Here are a few of many sneak peeks that will be on the blog in the next week or so.
First up is Miss Anna Jo….
Oh this little cutie gave me a run for my money :-) She wanted nothing- ABSOLUTELY NOTHING- do with me when we first started, ha! She wanted to be on her dads hip, with her head buried in his neck and that’s the only place she wanted to be. She didn’t want to play our games, she didn’t want to stand, she didn’t want to sit and any amount of candy was not worth looking at my camera.
Normally- if a child isn’t really into the whole picture thing- I can usually get them warmed up to me and having fun within 10 minutes or so. Sometimes kids do better if it’s just me and them and the parents aren’t around, sometimes they do better if the parents are there, sometimes they fall for my reverse psychology, sometimes they don’t, sometimes they like peek a boo, sometimes they could care less, sometimes they like the ABC song, sometimes they have no idea what I’m talking about. You just have to keep trying different things and then all of a sudden you’ll find the thing that works and you work it until it’s dead and the shoot is over :-)
Not the case with Anna Jo. She threw me for a loop and had me doubting my skills :-) It took a location change with this one As soon as we got her out to the lake, she did just fine. She was even fine at our first location, she just didn’t want to take any pictures. I got her to smile a couple times at the first location and even those turned out pretty sweet because she does have her head resting on her dad’s shoulder. I think she was still pretty tired at the beginning and just needed extra time to warm up.
I’m quite certain her parents think we got zero pictures of her……but they’re going to be surprised :-)
Next time we’ll start out off on the right foot Miss Anna Jo- we’ll do a shoot that doesn’t require you to wake up earlier than you’re used to :-) You’re too cute not to take pictures of!!! Enjoy your sneak peek!
After Anna Jo’s shoot I raced back to my parents house to meet up with my next shoot that was patiently waiting on me. I took pictures of Tanya & Taryn about a year ago HERE, but this time around I didn’t get the flu during their shoot :-)
These girls are just fun & silly. They love to play, they love to laugh and they love eachother. They’re so cute together :-) Thanks for coming over for your mini shoot and enjoy your sneak peek!
So on Friday I had a big shoot that involved a lot of kiddos, 1 awesome asistant, 2 super cute mini assistants, 4 black chairs, a red bench, big round balloons, small red balloons, 3 bags of apples, 1 broken neck (in healing), lots of ideas, an unknown amount of time before meltdowns and…..all of this taking place in the middle of the road out at Thousand Hills…a road that happened to be VERY busy because it was such a gorgeous day.
This sounds like potential for disaster, right? You would think so, but it actually went very well.
The only thing that messed with us was the amount of cars that were driving through that day. Particulary this ANNOYING State Park truck that just kept driving by like every 5 mins. At first he was all nice to us and then he just continued to drive by, every few minutes, with the back of his truck full of mulch. I don’t know if he was supposed to be taking that somewhere or if he just enjoyed being a jerk. Seriously- the last 5 or 6 times he drove by- he wouldn’t even look at us or slow down. He had this grumpy look on his face and I think that had we left anything in the road when he drove by, he would have hit it. I get that it’s not normal for us to be in the middle of the road, but it’s not like we didn’t move so that you could get around us…. heck- he never even had to slow down because we were so quick about moving. We could have been done a lot sooner had he not drove by 30 times.
So other than the State Park guy- we were just fine. The kids did great and the weather was A W E S O M E!!!! Some of my favorite shots to date. The apples, the balloons, the black chairs, the clothes, the colors, etc….it all just came together so well.
THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH to my sister Allison. I really don’t know what I would do without this girl. I asked her if she could bring all FOUR chairs from her breakfast table and without hesitation she said “Yep- I’ll load those up!” I also don’t know what I would do without my mother who always watches Ali’s kids (although Jackson & Ellie came with us for this shoot) while we shoot. She has a never ending to-do list, but she never says no. THANKS MOM!!! Plus she puts up with my smart a#$ self. I’m always messing with her :-) It’s all because I love you mom! Another thank you to my two mini assistants- Jackson & Ellie. Jackson Karate chopped the heck out of his mom and myself in order to get the boys to laugh. Ellie danced and played peek a boo with all the girls…she also tried to hold balloons, but after we went from 17 balloons to 3, we decided maybe we shouldn’t give the balloons to the kiddos :-)
Also a big thanks to Joe for being such a good sport about the whole shoot. He had to remove his neck brace before every shot and then we would all just pray that nothing would hit him or happen. We had one incident, but I think it all worked out fine. I think it was pretty painful though- so thanks joe for sticking it out for pictures!!!!
Enjoy your AWESOME sneak peek Hettinger/Vincent family!!!
Back to work! More sneak peeks to come tomorrow….hopefully…
I’m going back to Kirksville tomorrow afternoon and we all know how well my work life goes while I’m there :-) I’m going to try and get it all uploaded before I head back and then post it tomorrow night. We shall see!
